The Richmond Psychosocial Foundation International (RPFI) is a non-profit, non-government organisation without religious affiliations, dedicated to the development of effective and innovative community based therapeutic care for children, young people and adults in the UK and abroad.

What we do to make a difference
Our work focuses on the development of therapeutic communities and outreach support.
- In the UK we currently operate 3 facilities : Lytton House, The White House and Lancaster Lodge but plans include the establishment of two further services in the next two years.
- Internationally we support overseas organisations to set up new facilities with a view to their ultimate independent operation.
We aim to meet the needs of individuals and families faced with a variety of mental health challenges and of children and young people with emotional and behavioural problems which may be related to early childhood experiences and trauma.
50 Years of Service
The Richmond Psychosocial Foundation Internatonal was formed in 2006 by Elly Jansen OBE, with the aim of giving new impetus to the services she had previously provided as CEO of the Richmond Fellowship which she had founded in 1959 and, subsequently, of the Richmond Fellowship International which she founded in 1981. The latter had the specific aim of assisting and nurturing new mental health services globally.
On the first May 2009 she had completed 50m years of service in this field at home and abroad which was celebrated at Lancaster Lodge in Richmond, the same house where she had established the first Fellowship Therapeutic Community 50 years earlier. In the presence of staff – some recently appointed and others who had played a major role in this enterprise from its earliest years – a tree was planted to commemmorate all those who had contributed to the success of this life-saving work.
